| BLACK PEPPER : Black pepper is native to Malabar, a region in the state of Kerala (India). Pepper is cultivated since millennia. In trade, the pepper grades are identified by their origin. The most important Indian grades are Malabar and Tellicherry (Thalassery). The Malabar grade is regular black pepper with a slightly greenish hue, while Tellicherry is a special product. Both Indian black peppers, but especially the Tellicherry grade, are very aromatic and pungent. The whole, dried, mature berries of the plant Piper Nigrum. The berries are black to dark brown in colour with a hot, biting and pungent taste and a sharp and penetrating odour. The finished product is clean, washed and mechanically dried and packed in burlap bags of 50 kgs. (110 lbs.). Moisture will be below 12% and light berries below 4%. Sterilisation can be done at the option of the customer. The material can be packaged to suit customer requirement.
